Supermarket & foodcourt to be opened in Tengah neighborhood

Plantation Farmway is a green connector, will run between the housing precincts and connect them with recreational facilities in the area, such as children’s play areas and fitness areas for adults and seniors as well as a multipurpose court and a seating area that is landscaped.

In April 2024, the section of Plantation Farmway that runs between Plantation Acres & Plantation Grange is anticipated to be finished.

Plantation Farmway, between Plantation Village & Plantation Grove, will open in the second half 2024.

According to HDB, Plantation Village will be completed in January 2024. The last residential blocks located at Plantation Grove are expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2024.

The debut of a foodcourt and a market in Tengah’s first neighbourhood centre, Plantation Plaza at the end the second quarter in 2024 will be a relief for residents who have been complaining about the absence of amenities in the new housing estate as well as choices for public transport.

Spanning more than 10,000 square metres The five-storey Plantation Plaza includes a total of 75 shops – a supermarket and foodcourt, as well as restaurants, retail, service and leisure alternatives.

The Housing Board said in a statement on March 9 that the project is intended to serve as a one-stop shop for residents. Additional eateries, shops, and services will be open in the future.

HDB announced that the majority of these shops are expected to be operating by the middle of 2024 about six months after the conclusion of Plantation Acres and Plantation Grange which were the first Tengah Build-To-Order projects in the month of December 2023.

Plantation Plaza is incorporated into Plantation Village (another BTO project), which will be completed by January 2024.

HDB deputy chief executive officer of estate Mike Chan said the agency has been working with Giant and Koufu to plan their renovation plans to allow them to begin taking measurements earlier and start their fitting-out works at Plantation Plaza as soon as the temporary occupation permit has been granted.

With Plantation Plaza being completed later than the homes at Plantation Village, HDB said it has been prioritising work on residential units in order to catch up with the construction of amenities and facilities within the precinct.

The agency said that this was in response to the feedback of the majority of flat buyers who prefer to receive their keys earlier in order to begin renovations.

HDB declared the Plantation Plaza was timed so it would be finished within the same time frame as four BTO precincts in the vicinity the site – Plantation Grange Acres Plantation Village, and Plantation Grove. This is to better serve the residents of these communities.

Plantation Plaza isn’t finished until a significant number of residents have moved into the area, which is expected to be mid-2024, after renovations to homes were completed within six months of the key collection. This will ensure the sustainability of retailers.

To support businesses in the initial tenancy period, while the number of residents in Tengah is growing, HDB will offer new shop tenants staggered rent discounts.

Besides the neighbourhood centre in addition, there will be a shopping street – a linear pedestrian mall with 14 restaurants and shops, linking Plantation Plaza to Blocks 127A to 126A of Plantation Village.

The pedestrian walkway will allow people to walk from their homes directly to the upcoming Tengah Plantation station along the Jurong Region Line. This station is planned to be finished in 2029.

A mobile FairPrice grocery truck has been deployed in Plantation Acres, Plantation Grange and Plantation Village, among other temporary measures HDB has taken to meet residents’ basic needs during the interim.
